One of the premier public facilities in the Bay Area and Napa Valley, Chardonnay Golf Club offers a beautiful, challenging golf course located among 150 acres of vineyards as other natural elements. The course, which opened in 1991 and was designed by Algie Pulley, features lakes and streams and a variety of native flora and fauna. With several areas of the property designated as a wildlife preserve, sightings of a variety of bird species, including eagles, as well as rabbits, coyotes and foxes are common as you make your way through this beautiful course. From the tips, the course plays 6,948 yards, but there are five sets of tees, starting at just over 5,200 yards, making it very playable for all players. The course, rated four stars on GolfPass, is known for its excellent conditioning, fast greens and variety of holes. One of the most memorable is the par-3 eighth, which is framed by the stunning valley below. The no. 1 handicap hole is the 582-yard par-5 seventh, and the course ends with a memorable finishing stretch that includes the 174-yard par-3 16th, 457-yard par-4 17th and a great risk reward par 5. At just 473 yards from the tips, there are trees all down the left side as the fairway narrows in a couple of places, putting a premium on accuracy for anyone who tries to overpower this hole. In addition to the course, Chardonnay Golf Club, which is semiprivate, also offers excellent practice facilities, which include a two-acre driving range, practice bunker and chipping greens, and putting green. Lessons and club fitting are also available. Inside the clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop as well as The View Restaurant, which has, as the name implies, great views of the Napa River Estuary and Southern Mayacamas Mountain range. It's open every day for breakfast and lunch.?
