Since 1984, Eagle Ridge Golf Club has been one of the most popular places to play in Fort Myers, Florida. The club, located a few miles off of exit 131 from I-75, prides itself on providing a friendly, casual ambiance and good value experience to members and public players alike. Though Eagle Ridge Golf Club is fun and manageable for all levels of players, the design by course architect Gordon G. Lewis is quite challenging to anyone who can't control their ball flight. Four sets of tee markers extend the playing field, which is framed by native pine, cypress trees and housing, from 4,876 yards to 6,475 yards. The round starts with a straightforward par 4 without water, but it turns out that is the only hole on the course that is devoid of a water feature. Lakes and waterways populate the picturesque golf grounds. Eagle Ridge Golf Club puts a premium on shotmaking. On a few holes hazards extend on both sides of the fairways, but you will not be required to execute a single carry over water during the round. Moreover, if you can keep the water out of your mind, the fairways are actually fairly wide. Some of the holes bend dramatically and may require layups, and a couple of the par 4s are quite long. Lewis inserted sand bunkers into the landing zones and by the sides of the greens, but they aren t deep, they don t block access to the putting surfaces, and they often save shots from running into penalty areas. Note that carts are mandatory for all players--walking is not permitted on the flat but spread out routing. Practice facilities at Eagle Ridge Golf Club include a netted warm-up area and chipping and putting greens. The renovated clubhouse features a pro shop, a bar and snack area, and an outdoor patio.
