Not far from National Harbor in the heart of historic Fort Washington, National Golf Club offers a Ted Robinson Sr.-designed gem of a golf course that is sure to please golfers of all levels. Opened in 1965, this private par-72 course that can play as long as 6,742 yards. Recently restored to its original design, one of the highlights of the course is the elevated tee on the 556-yard par-5 16th, where there?s a great view of the Washington Monument. The outstanding layout features rolling terrain with plenty of elevation change and undulating greens. But with four sets of tees and mostly generous landing areas, it?s certainly a course that can be enjoyed by higher handicappers as well. The course also ends with a par-3, the 179-yard 18th. Though trees can come into play on the right, it?s the no. 17 handicap hole. The 10th, however, is much tougher. The 421-yard dogleg right, par 4 plays through a narrow chute of trees, and is National Golf Club?s no. 1 handicap hole. In addition to the golf course, there are both indoor and outdoor practice facilities, as well as a golf academy. Inside the club?s beautifully updated clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop, locker rooms, members? lounge, restaurant, and a ballroom.
